HBO launches new UK casting for Ginny Weasley and unveils alternate Hogwarts crest
HBO has reopened casting for the role of Ginny Weasley in its upcoming Harry Potter TV series after the originally selected actress, Gracie Cochrane, left the project following the first season’s filming. The new call seeks girls aged 10‑12 who reside in the United Kingdom to play the character in future seasons, aiming to maintain continuity as the cast ages.
A casting document released alongside the call displayed a simplified Hogwarts emblem that differs from the quartered crest used in the films. The alternate logo has sparked discussion among fans about the series’ student uniforms and visual fidelity to the books. The first season, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” is scheduled to premiere on 25 December 2026 on HBO and HBO Max, including in Italy.
The casting process requires two short video submissions – a 30‑second text reading and a brief personal introduction – with a submission deadline of 17 July 2026.
