HBO Max rolls out August premieres including Lanternas and adds prequel series Crystal Lake

In August, HBO Max expands its catalog with several new titles. The platform will debut the DC Studios series Lanternas on 16 August, following Green Lantern recruit John Stewart and veteran Hal Jordan as they investigate a cosmic‑linked murder. The final episode of the third season of A Casa do Dragão (House of the Dragon) airs on 9 August, concluding the struggle for the Iron Throne between the Black and Green Councils. Brazil’s long‑running novela Margarida (Que Sua Lenda Valha a Pena) returns for its third season on 24 August, while new films Miss You, Love You (28 August) and Possuída no Deserto (21 August) join the lineup. Additional reality‑show seasons and documentaries are also scheduled.

Separately, HBO Max will carry the eight‑episode prequel series Crystal Lake, set in the Friday the 13th universe. Produced by A24 and starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, the series follows the grieving mother of Jason Voorhees and is slated for release on HBO Max in European territories later this year, after a U.S. debut on Peacock on 15 October.
