Stuart Fails to Save the Universe spin‑off premieres on HBO Max with multiverse crisis

The new HBO Max series *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe* launched on 23 July 2026. Created by Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn, the spin‑off shifts the long‑running *The Big Bang Theory* franchise from sitcom to high‑concept sci‑fi comedy. It follows comic‑book shop owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he accidentally destroys a quantum device built by Sheldon and Leonard, triggering a multiverse‑armageddon. Stuart must repair reality with help from Denise, Bert Kibbler and quantum‑physicist Barry Kripke, while confronting alternate versions of familiar characters.

The ten‑episode season is released weekly, with each episode running about 25 minutes. The premiere featured a shocking death of a legacy character, setting a darker tone. In addition, creators confirmed a crossover with the DC Universe, promising cameo appearances by DC heroes such as The Flash. The series marks the third *Big Bang Theory* spin‑off after *Young Sheldon* and *Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage*.
