HBO Max releases docuseries on Corregidora Stadium violence
HBO Max has released a three-episode docuseries titled ‘Tragedia en el Estadio Corregidora’ (Tragedy at Corregidora Stadium), which investigates the violence that occurred during a football match between Querétaro and Atlas on March 5, 2022.
The production, created by Pacha Films and directed by Alberto Arnaut, utilizes archival footage and new testimonies from victims, witnesses, journalists, and authorities to reconstruct the events. The series examines security protocols and addresses contradictions regarding the official government report, which stated there were no fatalities and that the violence was spontaneous.
Participants in the documentary include Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri, former Club Querétaro president Gabriel Solares, and journalists Óscar Balderas, Marion Reimers, and Álvaro Morales. The series aims to analyze the repercussions of the incident and foster a conversation to prevent similar occurrences in stadiums.
