HBO renews horror prequel IT: Welcome to Derry for season 2

IT: Welcome to Derry HBO Pennywise horror series Stephen King

HBO has officially renewed the horror prequel series ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ for a second season. Based on the works of Stephen King, the series explores the origins of the entity known as Pennywise.

While the first season was set in 1962, the second season will shift its timeline to 1935 during the Great Depression. The new installment is expected to focus on the Bradley Gang massacre, following bank robbers who encounter horror while stopping in the town of Derry.

Executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti will return to the project. Brad Caleb Kane is set to serve as the sole showrunner for the upcoming season.
