HBO Max to release ‘4 Blocks Zero’ prequel series
The eight-part prequel series ‘4 Blocks Zero’ is set to premiere on HBO Max on September 25. The show serves as a backstory to the award-winning German gangster drama ‘4 Blocks’, which originally aired in 2017.
Set in Berlin during the 1990s, the series follows the Hamady family, who fled the civil war in Lebanon to settle in the Neukölln district. The narrative explores their struggle to establish a life amidst bureaucratic hurdles, social exclusion, and precarious residency statuses. The story tracks the family's evolution from refugees attempting to live a legitimate life to becoming a powerful criminal clan.
To mark the release, a pop-up event is scheduled in Neukölln on September 26 and 27, featuring music, food, and a screening of the first episode.
