HBO Max to release documentary on Estadio Corregidora violence

HBO Max will release a three-episode documentary series titled ‘Tragedia en el Estadio Corregidora’ on October 15. The production reconstructs the violent clashes that occurred on March 5, 2022, during a football match between Querétaro and Atlas at the Corregidora Stadium.

The series utilizes archival footage and unprecedented testimonies from victims, witnesses, journalists, and authorities to examine the security failures, the coordination between public and private security forces, and the subsequent sanctions imposed by the Mexican Football Federation. It aims to contrast official versions of the events with various perspectives regarding the causes and repercussions of the violence.

Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González stated that the state government collaborated with producers to provide information. He noted that the stadium has since been transformed into one of the safest and most family-friendly venues in the country due to the lessons learned from the incident.
