HBO Max tops Emmy 2026 nominations as streaming rivals clash

The Television Academy announced the nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards on July 8, with the ceremony set for September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. HBO Max emerged as the most‑nominated platform, receiving 122 nominations, ahead of Netflix's 111 and Apple TV+'s 87.

HBO Max’s lead is driven largely by the drama series “The Pitt,” which garnered 25 nominations, and the comedy “Hacks,” which earned 24 nominations and set a record for most comedy nominations in a single year. Other notable shows include Netflix’s “Beef,” Apple TV+’s “Pluribus,” and Disney+ titles in technical categories. The nominations highlight a fiercely competitive streaming landscape as platforms vie for dominance across drama, comedy, and miniseries categories.
