HBO Max Tops Emmy Drama and Comedy Nominations for First Time Since 2017
HBO Max leads this year’s Emmy nominations in both drama and comedy, a feat not achieved by the streaming service since 2017. The medical drama “The Pitt” received 25 nominations, while the comedy “Hacks” earned 24, making it the most‑nominated comedy series in Emmy history.
Only 18 instances have seen a single network dominate both categories, and the series have won a double victory just four times (22%). Past double winners include NBC’s “Hill Street Blues” and “Cheers,” and HBO’s own “Game of Thrones” and “Veep” in 2016. HBO Max’s current lead highlights its strong programming slate, though nomination dominance does not guarantee award wins.
