HBO renews horror prequel ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ for season 2

HBO has officially renewed the supernatural horror series ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ for a second season. The prequel, based on the novel by Stephen King, will continue to expand the universe established in the films by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, who remain executive producers.

Season two will feature Brad Caleb Kane as the sole showrunner. The new season is set to travel back in time to 1935 during the Great Depression. The plot will focus on the Bradley Gang massacre, involving a group of bank robbers who encounter an evil presence in the town of Derry.

Sarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Original Programming, expressed excitement about deepening the mystery and the lore of the character Pennywise. The series follows the timeline of the ‘It’ franchise, exploring the chilling history of the cursed town.
