HBO renews ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ for second season
HBO has officially renewed the horror prequel series ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ for a second season. The announcement follows a successful first season, which ranked among the top four series premieres in HBO Max history.
Season two will shift the timeline back to 1935 during the Great Depression, moving away from the 1962 setting of the first season. The new chapter will focus on the Bradley Gang massacre, involving a group of bank robbers who encounter unimaginable horror while stopping in Derry to purchase ammunition. This storyline expands on the mythology established in Stephen King’s novel and the films directed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti.
Brad Caleb Kane will return as the showrunner, while Andy and Barbara Muschietti continue as executive producers. While the return of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise has been noted in some reports, no official cast or release dates for the second season have been confirmed.
