HBO announces new cast for Harry Potter season 2
HBO has announced several key casting updates for the second season of its upcoming Harry Potter television series, which will adapt ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’.
New additions to the cast include Billy Barratt as a young Tom Riddle, Lenny Rush as Dobby the house-elf, and Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley. Hill replaces Gracie Cochrane, who departed the production due to “unforeseen circumstances” following the first season.
The series, which is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026, features a core cast including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other confirmed cast members include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Kit Harington is also set to appear as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season.
The production is being led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod, with J. K. Rowling serving as an executive producer. Filming for the second season is currently underway at Leavesden Studios.
