HBO reveals new Hogwarts details for Harry Potter series

HBO has released a new image for its upcoming Harry Potter television series, highlighting the enchanted hourglasses used to track points for the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. The detailed set design features the hourglasses set within a stone niche above the Great Hall entrance, adorned with the crests of the houses and depictions of the school's founders.

In the original novels by J. K. Rowling, these hourglasses play a central role in the House Cup competition, with colored gems—rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds—representing accumulated points. The new production appears to aim for a more faithful adaptation of the books by emphasizing these specific details that were often relegated to the background in the previous film adaptations.

The first season will adapt ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ and is scheduled to debut on December 25, 2026. The cast includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall.
