HBO series Lanterns and Herceg Novi Film Festival highlight new cultural content

The new edition of Objektiv highlights recent cinematic developments, including the Film Festival in Herceg Novi and the new HBO series ‘Lanterns’. At the Herceg Novi festival, the thriller drama ‘Three Weeks Later’ by Miroslav Terzić received attention, alongside the promotion of the monograph ‘Sovereign View: Two Decades of Montenegrin Cinematography (2006-2026)’. Other festival entries included ‘Hen’ by Gergely Palfi and the sci-fi comedy ‘Virus of Pathological Goodness’ by Predrag Ličina.

Regarding television, the HBO series ‘Lanterns’ has received critical acclaim, maintaining a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Described as a dark detective thriller set in a remote American town, the series focuses on the relationship between veteran Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, and his successor John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre. Critics note that the show prioritizes atmosphere, tension, and character development over traditional superhero spectacle, drawing comparisons to series such as ‘True Detective’ and ‘Fargo’.
