HBO to develop Baldur's Gate series with Craig Mazin

HBO is developing a new fantasy series based on the Baldur's Gate universe, set within the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Craig Mazin, the showrunner for the hit series “The Last of Us,” will lead the production.

Mazin expressed significant enthusiasm for the project, noting his extensive time spent in the world of Baldur's Gate 3. The new adaptation is expected to follow the lore established by Larian Studios and Wizards of the Coast.

While the new project is a priority, HBO Max President Casey Bloys stated that Mazin will focus on the Baldur's Gate adaptation only after completing work on the third season of “The Last of Us.” There are ongoing indications that the third season may serve as the conclusion to the “The Last of Us” series.
