HBO to premiere true crime docuseries ‘The Pet Cemetery Murders’

HBO has announced the premiere of a three-part true crime docuseries titled ‘The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story’. The series is scheduled to debut on October 11.

Produced by Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn of Lightbox and directed by Philip Cairney, the documentary investigates the 1985 unsolved murder of Dorothy Thompson. Thompson, the owner of a local pet cemetery in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, was found dead in the Mississippi River.

The investigation into Thompson’s death originally stalled, and the case was further complicated when Hurricane Katrina destroyed crucial physical evidence and police archives in the region. The series explores the intersection of the criminal investigation and local Southern Gothic folklore, including claims from informants regarding paranormal encounters related to the case.
