HBO’s Lanterns releases new images and design details

HBO and DC Studios have released new images and details regarding the fourth episode of the series ‘Lanterns’, titled “The Weenie”. The upcoming installment returns the narrative to 2016, exploring the complex relationship between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The series utilizes a flash-forward structure that has already revealed Hal Jordan’s death in 2026, adding dramatic irony to the current timeline where the Guardians are secretly planning to replace Jordan with Stewart.

Behind the scenes, designer Ed Natividad revealed that various concepts were explored for the Green Lantern power battery. While designs ranged from extraterrestrial aesthetics to more subtle versions, the production ultimately selected a more understated and austere design to match the show’s visual style. The series currently holds a 92% critic rating.
