HBO's 'Lanterns' Series Adds Nathan Fillion Cameo and Tackles Three‑Ring Green Lantern Mystery

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel for HBO's upcoming series "Lanterns," actor Nathan Fillion made a surprise appearance, reprising his comic‑book role as Guy Gardner. Fillion joked onstage, referenced his character’s catch‑phrase, and discussed his past roles while fans received a brief teaser featuring Gardner alongside John Stewart.

The panel also confirmed Laura Linney’s casting as one of the Guardians, a role first announced in May. Showrunners Damon Lindelof and Tom King later explained how the series will address a long‑standing question in DC lore: why Space Sector 2814, which includes Earth, has three active Green Lantern rings. They said the show will explore Earth’s high concentration of heroic candidates and clarify how Guy Gardner obtained his ring, tying together the narratives of Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Gardner.

Both announcements underscore the series’ effort to connect its characters and expand the Green Lantern mythos for a broader audience.
