HBO Max unveils Lanterns trailer at Comic-Con, revealing Sinestro and Manhunters
HBO Max released a new trailer for the upcoming DC Studios series Lanterns at the San Diego Comic‑Con panel. The eight‑episode season will debut in mid‑August 2026, with all episodes released simultaneously on the streaming service. The series stars Kyle Chandler as veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as rookie John Stewart, who team up to investigate a murder in the American heartland that escalates into a cosmic crisis. The trailer introduces key antagonists: the imprisoned Sinestro, played by Ulrich Thomsen, and the shape‑shifting Manhunters, an ancient threat to the Green Lantern Corps. Supporting cast includes Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt and Laura Linney as a Guardian of the Universe. Showrunner Chris Mundy, along with co‑creators Damon Lindelof and Tom King, describe the show as a blend of police procedural and superhero sci‑fi with an adult (TV‑MA) tone.
