HC Davos defeats Storhamar in Champions Hockey League opener
HC Davos secured a 3-2 overtime victory against Norwegian champions Storhamar in their Champions Hockey League season opener. Playing in front of 2,696 spectators, the Swiss team overcame a competitive start from the visitors.
Filip Zadina provided an early spark for Davos, scoring twice within the first seven minutes to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. However, Storhamar responded quickly through Joe Gatenby, who equalized in the 11th minute. The match became a defensive struggle throughout the second and third periods, with both teams struggling to find a decisive breakthrough.
After the game remained tied through regulation, Rasmus Asplund scored the winning goal on a power play at 64:29 to clinch the victory for HC Davos.
