HC Košice prepares for Tipsport liga season after pre-season victory

HC Košice has concluded its pre-season preparations ahead of the upcoming Tipsport liga season, finishing with a 4-0 victory against Michalovce. The team won four of their seven preparation matches, which included participating in an international tournament in Merano, Italy, against opponents from Germany and Switzerland.

Despite losing key players such as Michal Chovan, Filip Krivošík, and Jakub Ferenc, the team remains a contender for the Slovak title under Canadian coach Dan Ceman. The roster continues to follow a model of utilizing exclusively Slovak players. Tomáš Mikúš has been named the new captain following the departure of Chovan.

Olympic bronze medalist Tomáš Jurčo, making his league debut at age 33, expressed satisfaction with the team's systematic defensive approach during the final preparation match. The team is set to begin its season with a derby against Prešov.
