HC Oceláři Třinec defeats BYD Energie Karlovy Vary in Extraliga opener

In the opening round of the Czech Extraliga hockey season, BYD Energie Karlovy Vary lost 0-2 to HC Oceláři Třinec. The decisive goal occurred in the third minute when Finnish defenseman Elmeri Eronen accidentally deflected a pass from Jakub Galvas into his own net.

Karlovy Vary goaltender Dominik Frodl made numerous saves, allowing only one goal from 37 shots, including a late power-play goal into an empty net. Despite the loss, Frodl noted that the team's performance provided a foundation to build upon for the remainder of the season. Frodl also sustained a minor injury to his hand during the match.
