Héctor Alterio's remains to return to Argentina for memorial

The remains of renowned Argentine actor Héctor Alterio will be returned to Buenos Aires. Nearly ten months after his death in Madrid, his ashes will be interred in the Actors' Pantheon at the Chacarita Cemetery.

His children, Malena and Ernesto Alterio, initiated the move to ensure their father rests in his birthplace. The Asociación Argentina de Actores y Actrices has confirmed that a memorial ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 4:00 PM. The family has requested a simple and intimate service to allow colleagues, friends, and admirers to pay their respects.

Alterio, who was born in Buenos Aires in 1929, had a profound impact on Argentine cinema and theater. Although he spent much of his career and life in Spain following his exile during the military dictatorship, his family noted that he maintained a deep connection to his Argentine identity throughout his life.
