Héctor Bellerín files hate crime complaint against YouTuber Iñaki Angulo
Real Betis defender Héctor Bellerín has filed a criminal complaint against YouTuber and content creator Iñaki Angulo for alleged hate crimes and serious public defamation. The legal action, filed in the Seville Court of First Instance, follows a YouTube live stream on September 4 where Angulo analyzed a match between Real Betis and Real Madrid.
During the broadcast, Angulo made several derogatory comments regarding Bellerín’s appearance and personal life, including claims that the player “paints his nails” and “only reads books written by women.” The complaint specifically cites homophobic insults, including referring to the footballer as a “closeted queer.”
In addition to the player's personal lawsuit, Real Betis has filed a formal complaint with Spain's State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport. The club is seeking sanctions under Law 19/2007, which prohibits the dissemination of content through digital means that incites intolerance based on sexual orientation or other personal circumstances.
