Héctor Gómez survives car accident after fainting while driving

Dominican sports commentator Héctor Gómez survived a serious car accident on the Duarte Highway after suffering a sudden fainting spell while driving. The incident occurred while Gómez was en route to the Radio Televisión Dominicana (RTVD) facilities to broadcast the program ‘Central Deportes’.

Gómez lost consciousness behind the wheel, causing his vehicle to strike the containment walls on both sides of the elevated roadway. The sudden deceleration triggered the vehicle's airbags. He sustained a significant blow to the forehead from the steering wheel, along with bruising to his chest, neck, and right side.

Following the crash, emergency services transported him to the Centro de Diagnóstico, Medicina Avanzada y Telemedicina (CEDIMAT), where he remained hospitalized for three days. Medical examinations conducted during his stay revealed several health issues, including high blood pressure, elevated glucose and cholesterol levels, circulation problems, and high stress levels.
