Héctor Álvarez wins bronze at Cycling World Championships

At the UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, Canada, the Spanish national cycling team secured sixth place in the mixed team time trial. The team, which included Héctor Álvarez, Sandra Alonso, Iván Romeo, Eñaut Urkaregi, Mireia Benito, and Paula Blasi, finished with a time of 52:43, trailing the gold-medal winning Italian team by 1 minute and 10 seconds.

Separately, 19-year-old Spanish cyclist Héctor Álvarez won the bronze medal in the under-23 men's individual time trial. Competing on a 31.3-kilometer technical course, Álvarez finished just 11 seconds behind the winner, Belgium's Matisse Van Kerckhove, and seven seconds behind silver medalist Nicolas Milesi of Italy. Álvarez, who rides professionally for Lidl-Trek, is scheduled to compete in the under-23 road race later this week.
