Héctor Palma Salazar transferred for cancer treatment

Héctor Palma Salazar, a founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, has been transferred from the Altiplano Federal Prison to the National Institute of Cancerology in Mexico City to receive specialized medical care for skin cancer.

The transfer follows a legal injunction filed by Palma Salazar’s defense, which argued that the inmate had not received a specialized medical review at the institute for approximately two years. In response, District Judge Daniel Marcelino Niño Jiménez granted an immediate suspension to ensure the inmate receives a medical evaluation.

In addition to skin cancer, the defense reported that Palma Salazar suffers from three herniated discs affecting the sciatic nerve, causing severe pain in his back, chest, glutes, and legs, as well as insomnia. While the defense claims a lack of specialized care, the director of the Altiplano prison has denied any neglect or lack of medical attention regarding the inmate.
