Héctor Raúl Quintero Loor accused in fatal hit-and-run of Mónica Martinich

Testimonies from passengers in a vehicle driven by Héctor Raúl Quintero Loor have provided new details regarding the fatal hit-and-run of athlete Mónica Martinich on Samborondón Avenue. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 4, when a black RAM truck struck Martinich while she was jogging.

A passenger in the vehicle reported that Quintero fell asleep at the wheel and woke up following a heavy impact, allegedly shouting, “I killed her.” The passenger stated that he requested the driver stop to check on the victim, but Quintero refused, telling the passenger to jump out of the car if he wanted to get out. The vehicle continued driving until reaching the Sauces IV area, where it finally stopped.

Prosecutors are seeking to formally link Quintero to the case following the consistency of these testimonies.
