Héctor Rosales arrested for alleged animal abuse in San Salvador

Héctor Rosales, a 64-year-old retired professional soccer player and dentist, was arrested in San Salvador, El Salvador, following allegations of animal abuse. The arrest occurred after a neighbor filmed Rosales dangling a pet pug by its hind leg from a fifth-floor apartment balcony.

The video, which circulated on social media, shows Rosales holding the dog outside the railing and appearing to take a photograph of the animal while it cried. San Salvador Mayor Mario Durán confirmed that municipal staff and National Civil Police accompanied the investigation to Rosales’ residence, where they rescued two dogs.

Rosales, who played for C. D. Águila in the 1990s, faces a potential prison sentence of two to four years if convicted of animal cruelty.
