HD Construction Equipment wins $291.4 million US data center engine deal

HD Construction Equipment has secured a 390 billion won ($291.4 million) contract to supply high-efficiency 22-liter long-block gas engines to US-based power infrastructure provider ERock. The engines are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028.

ERock will integrate these partially assembled engines into generator sets designed to power hyperscale data centers for major US technology companies. This move targets the growing demand for continuous power generation as artificial intelligence expansion strains existing electrical grids and increases connection wait times.

To support this expansion, HD Construction Equipment will open a new engine plant in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, later this month. The facility will focus on producing power generation engines in the 1- to 3-megawatt range. The company also plans to expand its product lineup with a 37-liter, 1.5-megawatt engine in 2027 and a 77-liter, 3-megawatt model in 2028.
