HD Hyundai Marine Engine signs licensing deal with WinGD
HD Hyundai Marine Engine has signed a new licensing agreement with WinGD, a global leader in two-stroke marine engine technology. This partnership allows the Korean company to manufacture and sell WinGD-designed mid-bore engines, including dual-fuel models.
The agreement enables HD Hyundai Marine Engine to expand its product portfolio to include engines capable of running on various alternative fuels, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), ammonia, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and methanol. This move is intended to meet increasing maritime demand for decarbonization and compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) environmental regulations.
By securing WinGD technology, HD Hyundai Marine Engine now possesses the capability to produce engines from the two major global technology providers, alongside its existing partnership with Everllence. The company aims to use this expanded range to respond flexibly to the needs of shipowners and shipyards for high-value, eco-friendly propulsion systems.
