Karnataka politics erupts over alleged sting operations targeting CM Shivakumar
A political confrontation has emerged in Karnataka following claims by Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar that covert sting operations are being used to entrap him and senior ministers. Shivakumar stated during a cabinet briefing that he possesses proof of these attempts and cautioned his colleagues to remain vigilant against financial or personal inducements.
Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy has challenged the Chief Minister, demanding a formal inquiry or the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to uncover the alleged masterminds behind these operations. Kumaraswamy also questioned the Chief Minister regarding an alleged meeting held at a private hotel prior to a cabinet meeting.
In response, Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi stated that ordering a probe is at the Chief Minister’s discretion. Jarkiholi noted that an investigation would likely only be initiated if affected individuals come forward to lodge formal complaints. He clarified that the Chief Minister had advised vigilance rather than claiming that sting operations against ministers had already been completed.
