HDBank Chairman Kim Byoungho named top Vietnamese entrepreneur

HDBank Chairman Kim Byoungho has been recognized as one of Vietnam’s top 10 outstanding business leaders for the 2021-25 period. On October 11 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) presented him with the ‘Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur – Thanh Giong (Saint Giong) Cup 2026’.

As HDBank’s first foreign chairman, Mr. Kim has overseen significant growth since assuming his role in April 2022. Between the end of 2021 and the end of 2025, the bank’s total assets increased 2.5 times to VND 931 trillion (approximately US$36 billion), positioning it among the top eight banks in the system.

During this period, profit before tax rose 2.65 times to VND 21.3 trillion ($822.4 million). The bank also saw equity grow 2.54 times to VND 78.3 trillion ($3 billion), while market capitalization increased 2.4 times to VND 148.7 trillion ($5.7 billion). Return on equity improved from 23.3 per cent to 25.3 per cent.
