HDBank raises $721 million international social loan for Vietnamese SMEs

Vietnam’s HDBank secured a $721 million international syndicated social loan, exceeding its original $450 million target by about 60%. The loan was coordinated by Standard Chartered Bank and the Asian Development Bank, with six other banks – ANZ, Cathay United Bank, Commerzbank, Maybank Securities, MUFG Bank and State Bank of India – acting as lead arrangers.

The funds will be used to broaden financing for micro, small and medium enterprises that meet HDBank’s sustainable‑finance criteria, with a priority on women‑owned businesses. The bank says the capital will help expand production, create jobs, boost competitiveness and support inclusive economic growth in Vietnam. The transaction follows earlier green and sustainable‑finance raises of $270 million and $380 million, diversifying HDBank’s capital structure and strengthening its standing in international capital markets.
