HDFC Bank submits two names to RBI for next CEO

HDFC Bank has initiated its leadership succession process by submitting two preferred candidates to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the position of Managing Director and CEO. This move follows the decision by current CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan not to seek a reappointment when his term concludes on October 26.

In addition to the CEO search, the bank’s board has approved a broader senior management restructuring. Chief Credit Officer Jimmy Tata has been elevated to Executive Director for a three-year term, subject to RBI approval. The board also recommended a one-year extension for Executive Director V Srinivasa Rangan starting November 23, 2026. These changes will increase the number of whole-time directors from three to four.
