HDI Sigorta announces simplification vision to boost insurance literacy

HDI Sigorta has unveiled its new strategic vision focused on simplifying insurance processes to address the protection gap in Turkey. During a press conference in Istanbul, CEO Firuzan İşcan introduced the 'Simplification Vision,' aimed at increasing the accessibility and understandability of insurance products.

In collaboration with the Data Institute, the company conducted the 'Insurance Literacy Research in Turkey.' The study developed an Insurance Literacy Index (ILI) to measure public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Results indicate Turkey's general insurance literacy index stands at 50.4 points, with 44.8% of the population exhibiting low literacy levels.

Addressing the current insurance rate of 2.62% in the country, İşcan noted that increasing this figure to 4.7%—aligned with the Insurance Association of Turkey's 2030 goals—is essential to reducing financial vulnerability caused by disasters such as earthquakes and floods. The company plans to periodically repeat this research to monitor societal progress.
