HDZ Zagreb accuses Mayor Tomašević over Mirogoj cemetery neglect

The Zagreb City Organization of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) has accused Mayor Tomislav Tomašević of neglecting the Mirogoj cemetery and failing to implement the renovation of the Church of Christ the King.

According to a statement by Ivan Matijević, president of the Zagreb HDZ, approximately 15.7 million euros were secured for the renovation of the church and arcades, yet only 2.8 percent of those funds have been utilized. The party noted that among 44 churches and monasteries included in post-earthquake reconstruction in Zagreb, the Church of Christ the King is the only one that remains unrenovated, a task specifically assigned to the city administration.

The HDZ has questioned why the Zagreb Holding has not completed the necessary procurement for project documentation and why the city did not request continued funding from the state budget after the Ministry enabled it.
