He-Man movie moves to Prime Video after weak box office
The live‑action "He‑Man and the Masters of the Universe" debuted in cinemas on 5 June 2024 and has earned about $103.5 million worldwide against a production budget estimated between $170 million and $200 million. The under‑performance prompted Amazon MGM Studios to accelerate the film’s digital release, scheduling it for 22 July 2024 on Prime Video – just 47 days after its theatrical launch and earlier than typical windows.
The streaming debut will be exclusive to Prime Video (not MGM+), and Amazon is bundling the release with a free Prime‑available game, "Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite," to encourage subscriber engagement. Box‑office figures show the United States contributed roughly $58.9 million, the United Kingdom $5.7 million, Germany $3.4 million, Spain $1.3 million and Italy $1.0 million, while the film continues to screen in markets such as Japan. France has not yet seen a theatrical release due to a mandatory exclusivity period.
