Head Trip 2026 festival suspended due to severe weather
The inaugural Head Trip 2026 festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, was interrupted by severe weather on its opening night. Due to lightning risks and heavy rain caused by Tropical Storm Rachel, organizers issued an emergency alert just before 9:30 p.m., forcing an immediate suspension of performances and instructing thousands of attendees to seek shelter in vehicles or designated areas.
Earlier in the day, organizers had attempted to mitigate weather risks by compressing set times and moving headliner Calvin Harris to an earlier slot. However, rapid storm activity necessitated a full evacuation. Some performers, including FISHER B2B Chris Lake, were performing as the suspension occurred.
For the second day of the festival, organizers have updated the schedule to include postponed performances from Saturday night, with music expected to run until 12:50 a.m. Monday. Despite the resumption, weather concerns persist as the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Coachella Valley, forecasting gusts up to 50 mph.
