Health advice for managing frequent nighttime urination

Frequent nighttime urination, known as nocturia, can significantly impact sleep quality and overall health. One major cause is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), where an enlarged prostate obstructs urine flow and causes the bladder to become more sensitive, leading to symptoms such as a weak stream, urgency, and the sensation of incomplete emptying.

Management of mild BPH symptoms may include lifestyle changes or herbal remedies like saw palmetto, nettle root, or pumpkin seed extracts. However, medical consultation is essential to rule out other causes. Additionally, hydration habits play a role; consuming large amounts of water immediately before bedtime can interrupt deep sleep and REM cycles, potentially weakening the immune system and affecting cognitive functions over time.
