Health advice for respiratory wellness during seasonal changes

As seasonal transitions occur, health experts are highlighting dietary and preventative measures for respiratory wellness. Lotus root is recommended as a beneficial food for lung support due to its high content of water, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins, and potassium. According to the Vietnam National Institute of Nutrition, its fiber aids digestion, while traditional medicine suggests that cooked lotus root can help nourish the blood and support recovery after illness.

Additionally, there is a rising concern regarding the confusion between allergic rhinitis and the common cold during the rainy season. High humidity and temperature fluctuations can trigger allergic reactions caused by mold and dust mites. Experts note that allergic rhinitis accounts for approximately 32% of ENT cases in Vietnam. Key differences to distinguish the two include itchy eyes and nose, which are characteristic of allergies, whereas fever and sore throats are more common indicators of a viral cold.
