Health advisory on sore throat remedies and rising stomach viruses

Health experts are highlighting common seasonal symptoms, including sore throats and gastrointestinal infections, noting that these issues can affect both adults and children.

For sore throat relief, natural methods such as consuming honey or using a warm salt water gargle may help soothe irritation. While these can alleviate symptoms like coughing, medical professional advice should be sought if symptoms include high fever or difficulty breathing.

Regarding digestive health, pediatrician Dr. Saša Milićević warns of an increase in stomach viruses characterized by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Children are particularly vulnerable to dehydration due to social contact and hygiene habits. Key signs of dehydration in children include dry mouth, sunken eyes, lethargy, and decreased urination. Because these infections are viral, antibiotics are ineffective, making fluid and electrolyte replacement through oral rehydration solutions essential.
