The Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) has established a new Health AI Cybersecurity Work Group to address emerging threats posed by frontier AI models. The initiative aims to assist health systems, payers, and technology companies in defending against sophisticated cyberattacks while utilizing these models for defensive purposes. The group plans to release practical guidance and playbooks by the end of 2026 to help organizations manage risks such as the industrialized exfiltration of protected health information and ransomware.

Separately, experts are emphasizing the need for rigorous validation of clinical decision support (CDS) tools in hospital settings. While CDS can standardize care, improper implementation can lead to patient harm. Recommendations for hospitals include validating the intended use of software, ensuring executable logic aligns with authoritative clinical sources, and testing how complete systems behave within real-world care environments to prevent errors in medication and therapeutic interventions.
