Health authorities in Germany and Austria expand STI and HIV testing services

Public health authorities in Germany and Austria are reporting increased engagement with sexual health services. In Germersheim, Germany, the local health department, supported by Aids-Hilfe Landau, is introducing three special appointment dates to facilitate anonymous HIV and STI testing. These sessions, held on September 16, October 21, and December 16, will allow individuals to receive counseling and testing without prior registration.

In Vorarlberg, Austria, the organization Sexuelle Gesundheit Vorarlberg reported a record number of tests conducted last year. Data shows a significant rise in testing for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. The organization's management noted that the increased demand may require an expansion of current service capacities to meet the growing public interest in sexual health maintenance.
