Health authorities in Mexico and Colombia host medical safety congresses

Health regulatory bodies in Mexico and Colombia recently held specialized congresses focused on patient safety and the monitoring of medical products and devices.

In Mexico, the State Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Coespris) concluded its 2026 State Pharmacovigilance Congress. The event, which included 370 participants both in-person and virtually, focused on the responsible use of medications and vaccines. Discussions included the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, scientific innovation in radioligands, and improvements to pharmacovigilance units to better identify and evaluate medical risks.

In Colombia, the Cundinamarca Departmental Health Secretariat organized the XI Technovigilance Meeting. This gathering brought together health professionals, sanitary authorities, and biomedical industry representatives to promote the safe use of medical devices. Key topics included the implementation of cardioprotected zones, the risks of modeling substances, and the integration of artificial intelligence in health services to prevent and respond to device-related failures.
