Health authorities in Peru and Colombia seize unsafe Halloween products

Health officials in Piura, Peru, and Bogotá, Colombia, have conducted major operations to seize and destroy products deemed unsafe for Halloween consumption and use.

In Piura, authorities seized 278 Halloween masks after inspections revealed they lacked mandatory sanitary labeling, including Digesa registration, importer details, and age warnings. The operation, involving the Second Prosecutor's Office of Crime Prevention and local health inspectors, targeted commercial establishments in the Castilla and Veintiséis de Octubre districts to protect children from unregulated goods.

In Bogotá, the District Health Secretariat destroyed 225 kilograms of sweets, candies, and chocolates due to labeling inconsistencies or product alterations. The crackdown also resulted in the destruction of 177 liters of soft drinks and 67 liters of liquor. Additionally, officials seized 1,226 cosmetic lenses and various makeup products. These inspections are part of a broader strategy involving over 200 operations across the city's 20 localities to mitigate public health risks during the holiday season.
