Health authorities launch cardiovascular prevention campaigns in Argentina and Panama

Health authorities in Argentina and Panama are launching initiatives to increase cardiovascular disease awareness and prevention.

In Tucumán, Argentina, Hospital Padilla, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, will host a prevention day on September 10. The event, organized alongside the Faculty of Medicine, will offer blood pressure, weight, height, and waist circumference measurements to adults to identify early risk factors such as hypertension and obesity.

In Panama, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) is implementing the ‘Cuida tu Corazón 2026’ campaign across 15 health regions. The initiative includes ‘Corazón Saludable’ fairs and 40 activations at 16 stations of the Panama Metro. These efforts aim to reach the high volume of daily commuters to provide free screenings and medical guidance. This campaign follows data indicating that cardiovascular diseases accounted for 42.1% of prioritized non-communicable deaths in Panama in 2024.
