Health authorities launch sanitary inspections in Peru and Chile
Health authorities in Peru and Chile have launched targeted sanitary operations to address specific public health risks.
In Huánuco, Peru, the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) is preparing monitoring and surveillance operations in commercial establishments to inspect Halloween products. Officials expressed concern regarding masks that emit strong odors or contain potentially toxic heavy metals. Authorities are also urging consumers to verify that candies and sweets possess the required sanitary registration from the Ministry of Health. These inspections will involve the Public Ministry and local municipalities across markets, supermarkets, and retail stores.
In Iquique, Chile, the Seremi de Salud has activated emergency protocols following the detection of Aedes aegypti eggs in the northern sector of the city. To prevent the spread of viruses such as Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya, sanitary inspectors have deployed chemical control and fumigation teams to high-traffic areas, including the Iquique Bus Terminal, the Corbeta Esmeralda Museum, and Caleta Riquelme. Residents are being asked to assist by eliminating standing water in their homes to prevent mosquito breeding.
