Health authorities warn of autumn tick peak and H3N2 flu shift

Health authorities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are issuing warnings regarding seasonal biological risks. In the Czech Republic, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute warns that tick activity is entering a second peak during autumn, which may persist until the first frosts. Experts note that ticks are not limited to deep forests but are also found in gardens, parks, and near watercourses.

Simultaneously, health officials are monitoring a shift in influenza strains. Experts suggest the H3N2 strain may become dominant in the upcoming season, following trends observed in the Southern Hemisphere. While H3N2 has circulated in Europe previously, the emergence of new or less widespread strains can influence the severity of the flu season. Vaccines prepared for the upcoming season include components to address the H3N2 strain.
