Health awareness events focus on diabetes and heart health in Germany
Medical institutions in Germany are hosting specialized awareness days to promote early detection of chronic conditions.
In Bad Griesbach, the Passauer Wolf rehabilitation center held a heart health event as part of the German Heart Foundation’s national heart weeks. Dr. Christian Zwicker led lectures on atrial fibrillation, noting that while it affects approximately 1% of the general population and up to 20% of the elderly, it often goes unnoticed. The event emphasized that untreated atrial fibrillation significantly increases the risk of stroke and heart failure.
Additionally, the Heinsberg Municipal Hospital scheduled a vascular and diabetes day for November 18, 2026. Led by specialist Aleksandar Jovanovic, the program aims to educate the public on recognizing diabetes symptoms, understanding diagnostic options, and implementing lifestyle changes to prevent complications and manage vascular health.
